Visual inspection of surgical instruments during reprocessing is critical, and anyone will tell you that. With all of the cleaning verification technologies out that detect blood, carbohydrates, and proteins, what is that saying about our visual acuity? Sure, we can see pitting, rust, and other damage, at least most of the time. I would say always, but that would most likely mean you are using some form of magnification. One of the most often forgotten about the need for a proper inspection environment is lighting. Have you tested to see what your Lux rating is? If not, have someone from your Facilities department come over and provide you with a reading.
